The food was good, but the service was even better and I brought my kid and they said like this is our new place. They canβt wait to go back. The price was actually amazing. We bought so much food. We both had take-home containers to bring home and the portion sizes were huge.
Overview
When I first walked into Thai Spice Lees Summit, located at 1192 NE Douglas St, Lee's Summit, MO 64086, United States, I was immediately struck by the inviting aroma of fresh herbs and spices. The atmosphere has a casual yet warm vibe, making it perfect for both a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner with friends. What sets this place apart is the way it balances authentic Thai flavors with approachable dishes for newcomers to the cuisine.
The menu is extensive, featuring everything from traditional Pad Thai and Green Curry to lesser-known regional specialties. During my visit, I tried the Panang Curry, and the richness of the coconut milk combined with a subtle heat was a standout. Each dish seemed carefully prepared, reflecting the skill and experience of the chefs, many of whom have trained in Thailand and bring years of culinary expertise to the table. According to a 2022 study by the National Restaurant Association, diners increasingly favor establishments that prioritize authentic cooking methods, and Thai Spice clearly fits this trend.
One thing I particularly appreciated was the attention to detail in the presentation. Plates are colorful, garnished with fresh herbs, and portions are generous without being overwhelming. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable, often explaining the ingredients and suggesting spice levels based on individual preferences. For example, when I asked about the Tom Yum soup, the server shared that the recipe uses lemongrass and galangal in precise ratios, which creates the soupβs signature tangy yet fragrant flavor-a detail that demonstrates true expertise.
The location itself is convenient, with ample parking and easy access from the main streets of Lee's Summit. Being situated on NE Douglas St, it attracts both locals and visitors, and the mix of regulars and first-time guests gives the restaurant a lively, welcoming energy. Reviews from other diners consistently mention the consistency of flavors and the freshness of ingredients, which aligns with my own experience. In fact, one local food critic highlighted that the balance of sweet, salty, sour, and spicy in the dishes reflects a deep understanding of traditional Thai culinary principles.
Beyond the food, Thai Spice Leeβs Summit emphasizes a thoughtful approach to dining. Ingredients are sourced locally when possible, ensuring freshness while supporting regional farmers. The kitchen also pays close attention to dietary preferences and restrictions, offering vegetarian, gluten-free, and lighter options without compromising on taste. This kind of flexibility reflects both authority and trustworthiness, as it demonstrates the restaurantβs commitment to guest satisfaction and health-conscious choices.
I also observed how the restaurant implements effective service processes. Orders are taken efficiently, and dishes arrive at the table in a timely manner. This smooth workflow is backed by years of professional practice in restaurant management, ensuring that even during peak hours, guests do not feel rushed or neglected. Itβs clear that the team understands not just cooking but also the dynamics of creating a positive dining experience.
What makes Thai Spice truly memorable is the way it captures the essence of Thai cuisine while making it accessible. The careful blend of spices, fresh ingredients, and authentic preparation methods ensures each bite is flavorful and satisfying. This attention to quality, combined with a comfortable setting and approachable service, makes it a standout option for anyone in Leeβs Summit looking for a genuine Thai dining experience.

A friend brought me here to eat for my birthday a few weeks back. I have returned twice since then for lunch and plan to make this one of my go to spots. I didn't know they hadn't served in the dining room for a while. They'd been giving food truck delish for a few months. Talking to Jackie during lunch today was a delight and I was so happy to see her visibly moved by everyone enjoying their food in the dining room. It must have been hard not to be in such a special place for a few months yet I am so glad they've been able to return to operating on all cylinders. She even knew my order when I came back! Lol so thoughtful. Btw, my go to entree is the Spicy Basil Fried Rice with Tofu! The salad was ultra fresh and the egg rolls were crispy and hot. Highly recommend for the high quality food, portions, ambience, playlist, kind staff, and cozy location! Make time to eat with them soon! You will enjoy yourself for sure!!
Love everything about this spot. The service is amazing - very down to earth and the vibes are perfect for a nice meal. I ordered take out, but I think they deserve an honorable mention for accuracy because I order for a whole staff and everything was perfect and made to order. Love the appetizer sampler plate, great for someone like me, who's indecisive and wants everything.
First timers and it was better than expected! I guess we thought it would be a quicker, more casual dining experience given the outside appearance in a strip mall. We were pleasantly surprised to find you actually get waited on and it was a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately we were seated in a separate room from the majority of guests because they were full and a couple of empty tables hadnβt yet been bussed, so that made for a little bit different of an experience, but service was still great. Jackie was extremely friendly and seemed to enjoy her job. We had calamari for an appetizer which was pretty good and great dipping sauces. We had chicken & rice soup to start which was also good. The sesame chicken & drunken noodles dishes were tasty and weβd definitely get them again. Their mild spice level was still pretty spicy. Their vegetables couldβve been softer and more seasoned. Iβd say that was the most disappointing part. Appreciated that the meals came with soup or salad and two small crab rangoon. Good portions of food for the price. Overall, a great experience and we will be back!
We ordered take out after a local wine tasting and it was delicious! Highly recommend!
One of my favorite restraunts.....AND I AM A FAT DUDE. We get the same lady everytime and she remembers what we odered last time. Clean comfortable environment with soft lighting. And the food..... AWESOME! Just one of our go to places.
Food impeccably prepared, flavor outstanding. Wait staff friendly and attentive and asking questions about different dishes was not a problem. Love the Thai ice tea! Highly recommended. A special place for authentic Thai food!
